The affordable HTC One E8 is finally making its way to Malaysia, offering high-spec performance at a lower price tag. One of our eagle eyed readers had spotted the One E8 being listed on SIRIM’s database. If you’re not familiar, the One E8 is simply the economical version of the HTC One M8 with premium aluminium body swapped for a plastic build. The internals are identical with a 5″ Full HD display, top of the line 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM and the same 2,600mAh capacity battery. If you’re not a fan of the One M8’s duo 4MP camera set up, HTC had replaced it for a mainstream 13MP shooter on the E8.

The HTC One E8 has proven to be a runaway success when it was launched in China. They have sold a massive 50,000 units in just 15 minutes which is quite remarkable. In the land where Xiaomi is taking China by storm, pricing is a critical factor and HTC appears to have done it right with its 2,800 Yuan (about RM1,445) price tag. This is almost half the price of its expensive HTC One M8 (RM2,399) and it will definitely give other flagship smart phone makers a run for their money.

HTC is releasing the One E8 in Singapore this Saturday, 26th July for S$658 (about RM1,685) without contract. It shouldn’t take too long for HTC Malaysia to roll this out locally and we reckon it would be priced around RM1500-RM1600. For South East Asia, we are getting the single-SIM variant which supports 4G LTE connectivity.

Thanks NightFelix for the heads up!
