The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is officially available in Malaysia starting tomorrow, 11th July and they are giving additional RM500 rebates to the first 100 buyers at Samsung’s Experience Store at The Gardens Mall, KL and Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang. To redeem the rebate, you would need to do so through Samsung Galaxy Life, Samsung’s rewards app which can be downloaded for free over here. Take note that the app only supports Samsung Galaxy devices that are running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and above.
On top of that, Samsung is also running a 3 day Tab S Challenge Samsung Experience Stores at The Garden, MidValley and Gurney Paragon where buyers stand a chance to win extra gifts such as a 16GB USB OTG, a RM100 ZALORA voucher, a GALAXY Tab S Simple Cover and Boost Juice vouchers. The challenge is happening from 11:00AM to 12:00PM and 4:00PM to 5:00PM starting Friday tomorrow until Sunday.
Outright, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is priced at RM1,699 while its larger 10.5 model is priced at RM1,999. Apart from the screen size, both models are running on identical specs which includes an Exynos 5 Octa-Core processor (1.9GHz quad core + 1.3GHz quad core) with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Both devices are 4G LTE enabled and they are also capable of making phone calls and SMS.
The key differentiator is its Super AMOLED display which pushes an ultra-high resolution of 2560×1600 pixels resolution. The benefit of using Super AMOLED is having better colours, contrast and power efficiency with its Ultra Power Saving Mode. In terms of pixel density, the 8.4″ model pushes 359 ppi (pixels per inch) while the 10.5″ unit does 288 ppi which is still very high for a tablet. You can find out what we think of the new wafer thin device in our Galaxy Tab S hands-on video after the break.
