ZTE introduces its high-end Nubia Z7 smart phone with a 5.5″ Quad HD display

Another Chinese smart phone has joined the Quad HD bandwagon with the Nubia Z7. For those who are unfamiliar, Nubia is ZTE’s high-end mobile brand which aims to set itself apart from its usual mass market offering.

Looking at the spec sheet, the Nubia Z7 has the means to take on the LG G3 and the Oppo Find 7. It gets a similar 5.5″ Quad HD display that does 2560×1440 pixels resolution and an ultra high pixel density of 538ppi (pixels per inch). Underneath its 9mm shell is a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It even gets a 3,000mAh capacity battery which makes the Nubia Z7 very identical with the Oppo Find 7.

The main camera is where the Nubia Z7 stands out. It gets a 13MP f/2.0 shooter that’s assisted with Optical Image Stabiliser and dual-LED flash. For taking Selfies, it has a front facing 5MP camera. Interestingly the Nubia Z7 supports 4G LTE and even has dual-SIM slots. The first SIM slot supports various 4G LTE bands with support for local operators while the secondary slot is limited to 3G. In China, the Nubia Z7 is priced at 3,456 Yuan (about RM1,767). As comparison, the Oppo Find 7 is priced at 3,498 Yuan and it is sold at RM1,898 in Malaysia.

Apart from the Nubia Z7, ZTE has also announced the Nubia Z7 Max and the Nubia Z7 mini. Despite its name, the Nubia Z7 Max appears to be a lower spec version with a Full HD 5.5″ display and is mated to just 2GB of RAM. Meanwhile its Nubia Z7 mini is a cheaper alternative with a smaller 5″ Full HD display and has a standard 13MP camera without Optical Image Stabilisation.
