Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be available very soon in Malaysia

The dual-SIM Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be going on sale in Malaysia very soon. Tipster @szeseong has done a bit of searching to and has found the affordable smart phone carrying the model number 2013029 listed in SIRIM’s certification database. In terms of price, the Redmi 1S is listed at 799 Yuan in China which converts to about RM420 in our local currency today.

During Xiaomi’s launch event last month, they did mention June as the availability month for the Redmi 1S. To recap on the specs, the Redmi 1S gets a 4.7″ IPS display that pushes a decent 720p HD resolution and it runs on a mid-tier 1.6GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. It also comes with 8GB of expandable storage with microSD slot and a 8MP main camera. Keeping the lights on is a 2,000mAh capacity battery which is replaceable under its removable back cover. The dual-SIM slots support 3G and 2G connectivity respectively.

The Redmi 1S is an upgrade over the original Redmi which was sold in Singapore. The classic Redmi is running on MediaTek’s Quad-Core 1.5GHz processor and it came with just 4GB of storage. Since Xiaomi is having a weekly sale every Tuesday at 12PM, the Redmi 1S might just hit their online store on 24th June. For now, those who are in the market for a new device can purchase the Mi 3 smart phone at a much reduced RM769 price tag tomorrow.

Thanks @szeseong for the tip!
