Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S to get fingerprint scanner and Ultra Power Saving Mode

Samsung will be announcing its new high-end Galaxy Tab S tablets next month and more clues of its features have surfaced. The folks at Sammobile have managed to get a copy of its firmware where it includes a video tutorial video of its unique functions.

From the video, it is discovered that the Galaxy Tab S will feature a fingerprint scanner that’s embedded in the home button. This is similar to the Galaxy S5‘s home button. Since the Galaxy Tab S display is using Super AMOLED, the new tablet also offers a frugal Ultra Power Saving mode. With this mode enabled, the tablet’s battery life can be extended drastically by cutting down unnecessary consumption including turning the screen to black and white. AMOLED displays can be more efficient compared to typical LCD panels as each individual pixel can be turned off when displaying pure blacks.

The new Galaxy Tab S will be launched on 12 June in New York. In terms of design, the Galaxy Tab S was spotted with a perforated back cover like the Galaxy S5 and has a camera with assisted LED flash. It is expected to run on its Octa-Core Exynos processor with a choice of 8.4″ and 10.5″ display that does a high 2560×1440 pixels resolution.

Check out the additional screenshots taken from the Galaxy Tab S firmware after the break.
