During Xiaomi’s launch in Malaysia, we managed to catch up with Hugo Barra, the key person at Xiaomi who is driving the brand outside of its home ground China. He has generously shared with us a couple of things including their approach in new markets such as Malaysia and how they plan to build brand perception from scratch.

Apart from having a Mi 3 smart phone, power bank and soon to be launched affordable Redmi 1S, we can expect more products including its Mi Pad tablet, Mi TV and even the Mi Router. The Mi Pad is Xiaomi’s take on building a proper tablet experience where Android is still struggling to put a dent on Apple’s market share.

Check out the 10 minute video with Hugo after the break.
