The affordable Moto E is now official, offering reliable smart phone experience at a lower price. This is positioned below its Moto G which made its mark of being desirable cheap and cheerful smart phone.
Targeting at the entry-level segment, the Moto E comes with a smaller 4.3″ display that does a modest qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. The screen is said to be scratch resistant with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with an added anti-smudge coating.
Under the hood, it runs on a 1.2GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB of RAM. It is also accompanied with a 400MHz Adreno 302 GPU which should provide some decent gamig performance. On-board the Moto E gets 4GB of storage but fortunately they have included a microSD slot which accept cards up to a maximum of 32GB capacity. You’ll also get a 5MP camera which does a low FWVGA (480p) resolution, a 1,980mAh battery that is said to last the whole day. Overall, it weighs 142 grams and it is 12.3mm thick. For extra personalisation, it also gets an array of interchangeable Motorola Shells that come in different colours and designs.
Like the Moto G, the Moto E is available in a single SIM and Dual-SIM versions. It is currently running on Android 4.4 KitKat and a newer Android 4.4.3 KitKat has been teased as coming soon. It is priced at 89 Pounds in the UK which makes it under RM500 when converted directly. However in India, it is priced even lower at only 6,999 Rupees which is only RM380. So far no word of when it is coming to Malaysia but you can be sure that this will definitely stir up more competition for entry-level smart phones priced below RM600.
