ASUS ZenFone to be available this coming Saturday?

The ASUS ZenFone trio with its ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 were supposed to be available in Malaysia by end of April. More than a week have passed but there’s still no sign of when the ZenFone series would actually go on sale.

Now Intel has posted a teaser promoting a smart phone with low light camera capabilities is coming on May 10th, which is this Saturday. No doubt it is the new ASUS ZenFone series but many are still sceptical if it has finally arrived.

In terms of pricing, the ZenFone 4 is priced at RM299 while the ZenFone 5 is at RM599 and the ZenFone 6 at RM899. You can check out the hardware comparison of the 3 models here.

At time of launch, the ZenFone series was considered a serious contender packing performance at an affordable price bracket. With weeks of delays, the competition from China such as Huawei and Xiaomi has started to gain more attention with even more compelling smart phones at similar price point.

As comparison, the ZenFone 5 competes directly with the Honor 3C which is cheaper by RM100 but offers 2GB of RAM and a larger 2,300mAh battery. Word has it that Xiaomi will be launching soon and what they have would definitely beat them in price. Hopefully May 10 is the official ZenFone release or else most of its consumers would be looking elsewhere.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do check out our hands-on with the ASUS ZenFone trio and also a closer look at its PixelMaster low-light feature.
