After having the Galaxy S5 dropped and tortured alongside its former Galaxy S4, the folks at TechSmartt have also conducted a drop test comparison with the new HTC One M8 and the iPhone 5S.

In this comparison, both iPhone 5S and HTC One M8 comes with an aluminium body while the Galaxy S5 is still plastic based with a new back cover design. The new HTC One M8 unibody uses 20% more metal than last year’s HTC One M7 but does this translate to better durability? Watch the video after the break to find out.

While the HTC One M8 is the toughest of the lot, it is also one of the hardest to repair according to iFixit. Overall, the new smart phones this year do appear to be more durable than previous generations. This minimises the need for repairs if you do accidentally drop them.

If you do want better peace of mind, U Mobile is offering a smart phone insurance called U Care Plus 8. It is applicable to its Postpaid subscribers and costs just RM8/month or RM88/year.
