The new Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a new 16MP camera that utilises its own ISOCELL image sensor technology. So how different is it compared to other back-illuminated sensors?

To explain its key advantages, Samsung has released a video explaining how ISOCELL is different and its advantages over standard camera sensors. In a nutshell, the ISOCELL image sensor design comes with thin barriers in between each pixel. This claims to reduce cross-talk by 30% that would eliminate unwanted noise and increase fidelity in low light conditions.

With a wider Chief Ray Angle, the ISOCELL can be much thinner than standard BSI Camera sensors making it suitable for thinner flagship smart phones. You can check out the official Samsung ISOCELL introductory video after the break.
