Samsung converts 3 million retweets into US$3 million

Samsung has gotten a lot of publicity with its US$20 million sponsorship of the recent Oscars. The epic selfie from Ellen DeGeneres was a gold mine, being the most retweeted of over 3.2 Million RT to date. To celebrate this “organic” achievement, Samsung is giving back by donating US$3 million to two charities of Ellen’s choice, namely St. Jude’s and Humane Society.

While this is just a mere fraction of what Samsung has been spending on advertising and promotions, it is still a nice gesture after achieving such a milestone. An epic achievement where even its rivals have started poking fun at them. Although Ellen is known to be an iPhone user, the event of her using the Galaxy Note 3 has sparked widespread conversations, which is probably more than what Samsung has bargained for.
