UPDATE: Sony QX10 with 18.2MP 1/2.3″ Sensor and 10X Zoom is now available at RM699.
If we had to name the most innovative product of this year it would be, without a doubt, Sony’s excellent QX10 and QX100 lens cameras. You get the imaging capability of a high-end point-and-shoot packed into a lens that you can connect to your phone wirelessly and take pictures with. Essentially, you get the best of both worlds, the imaging prowess of a very good point-and-shoot and the flexibility and social sharability of your smartphone.
With the QX lenses you’re able to take some really uniques pictures and if you’re keen, the higher specced QX100 is now available in Malaysia for RM1,499. It’s a steep price to pay but consider that the QX100 packs the same hardware as one of the best point-and-shoot cameras around — the Sony RX100 — and you can see how the QX100 makes sense. You get a very capable 20 megapixels 1-inch Exmor R backside illuminated image sensor, a f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens and ISO 6400 sensitivity for great low light performance, 3.6x zoom, optical image stabilization and Sony’s BIONZ processor. On top of that the QX100 packs stereo microphones, NFC, WiFi, a microSD card slot and a battery pack.
The QX100 is currently available at Sony Stores in the Curve and KLCC if you want to go and check it out or you can head on over to after the jump to check out our hands-on video.
