ASUS FonePad 7 now available in Malaysia

ASUS has finally announced the arrival of the FonePad 7 tablet that’s capable of making voice calls. Retailing at RM999, the FonePad 7 is an incremental upgrade over its previous FonePad.

Powering the device is an Intel Atom Z2560 processor with 2 cores running at 1.6GHz with 1GB of RAM and it comes with 16GB of storage. Storage can be expanded with microSD card as well. Over at the front, it retains the same 7″ IPS LCD display that does a resolution of 1280×800. For better sound, the FonePad 7 comes with dual front facing stereo speakers as well. In the imaging department, it comes with a 5MP main camera that supports Full HD video and a front facing 1.2MP camera.

The battery capacity of 3,950mAh is smaller than the original 7″ FonePad but it promises up to 10 hours of use. Overall it weighs 340 grams and has a thickness of 10.5mm. In terms of connectivity, it is not 4G LTE compatible however it supports HSPA+ with download speeds up to 42Mbps.

If you’re looking to get this on contract, Maxis is offering the device as low as RM299 on SurfMore 75 or RM449 on SurfMore 50 with 24 months contract. More details on the Maxis FonePad 7 plans here.
