If you’re keen on getting the Sony Xperia Z1 you can do so today. The device officially goes on sale starting from today for a sticker price of RM2,399 but if you want you can get the Z1 for as low as RM1,538 from Celcom, with a 24-month commitment of course.

Choosing the right plan for you may be a challenge with Celcom as there is no less than SIXTEEN plan variations to choose from, all with different monthly commitments and upfront payment charges. It’s as if the product people at Celcom are deliberately making things confusing for consumers.

The bundled Xperia Z1 pricing on Celcom as follows:

Celcom First Prime + 1GB/3GB (12 months) – RM2,088
Celcom First Prime + 1GB/3GB (18 months) – RM2,038

Celcom First Data mPro Plus 5GB (24 months) – RM1,588

Anyway, the Xperia Z1 features a fast 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm 800 processor, a gorgeous 5-inch Triluminos display and a 20.7MP camera that’s mated with a 1/2.3″ Exmor RS Sensor and Sony’s G Lens optics with a 27mm wide angle field of view and a reasonably fast F2.0 aperture. You also get LTE connectivity, a 3,000mAh battery and 16GB of on board storage that’s expandable using micro SD (up to 64GB).

Like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the Xperia Z1 is IP58 rated meaning that its water and dust proof. The overall body construction of the Z1 is top notch and is also improved from the Xperia Z with a combination of polished aluminium frame and tempered glass front and back panels making the device more comfortable to hold. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out our hands-on with the Xperia Z1.

Against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Xperia Z1 is handicapped due to its lack of software features (too many features perhaps) but we’d recommend the Sony as a good alternative due to its exquisite build quality, amazing display and the fact that you can take the Z1 with you every time you go for a swim.
