UPDATE: The Sony Xperia Z1 is now available in Malaysia and is offered as low as RM1,538 from Celcom.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to go on sale in Malaysia on the first week of October and now its pricing has been revealed at RM2,399. To recap the specs, the Xperia Z1 is the successor of its 5″ Xperia Z which boasts uprated specs of 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm 800 processor, improved 5″ Triluminos display and larger 20.7MP camera that’s mated with a 1/2.3″ Exmor RS Sensor and Sony’s G Lens.
Like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the Xperia Z1 also retains its IP58 rated water & dust resistance and the overall body construction is improved with the use of aluminium frame around the sides. On-board it comes with 16GB of storage which fortunately is expandable with microSD card memory.
For RM2,399, the Xperia Z1 is similarly priced with its new rival the Galaxy Note 3 which also comes with 4G LTE connectivity. In terms of specs, the Galaxy Note 3 seems to be more generous with 32GB of storage, 3,200mAh battery and larger Full HD 5.7″ display but it lacks the water resistant capabilities that the new Xperias are famous for. However it is worth pointing out that the Xperia Z1 key differentiation is its 20.7MP shooter which packs a bigger sensor.
