The mid-level Samsung Galaxy S III mini has finally made an appearance in Malaysia with the price tag of RM1,199. It was recently spotted on SenQ recent promotion catalog. Revealed 3 months ago, the baby Galaxy S III is smaller than its bigger brother with a smaller 4.0″ display while maintaining the same nature inspired curvy design.
Reduction is not just limited to the exterior as the Galaxy S III mini internals have been brought down several notches with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a 5MP camera. The main camera is capable of HD 720p videos and there’s a VGA camera in the front as well. In terms of display, the 4.0″ Super AMOLED pushes a modest 800×480 pixels resolution. The unit that we are getting in Malaysia comes with 8GB internal storage which fortunately is expandable with microSD.
The Galaxy S III mini comes with a modest 1,500mAh capacity battery and overall it weighs 120 grams with a thickness of 9.9mm. For colours, there are 2 options – Marble White and Pebble Blue. It is also good to know that the Galaxy S III mini runs on more current Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and you do get the similar features such as Pop-up play, S-Voice, Direct call and Smart alerts as its bigger brother.
For those that prefer to upsize rather than downsize, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Grand – another mid-spec Samsung Android smart phone with a larger 5.0″ display with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. So far that has been announced globally and it is unknown when it will make it to our shores.
