LG’s Nexus 4 prototype gets reviewed in detail

LG Nexus 4

The yet to be announced Nexus 4 has gotten its very own full blown review, thanks to the same guys that leaked early product shots of the device. This is probably the worst leaked ever for a new device.

In terms of exterior design, the Nexus 4 has a flat front surface as opposed to the curved contour glass on the Galaxy Nexus. Dimension wise, both devices are quite identical with the Nexus 4 being 1.5mm shorter but it is slightly wider by 1.3mm due to its larger 4.7″ display. Overall, the Nexus 4 is 9.2mm thick and weighs 139 grams. As comparison, the Galaxy Nexus is 8.9mm thick and weighs 135 grams.

With a pre-production unit running on Android 4.1.2, the unit was obviously riddled with bugs which resulted buttons not responding which needed soft resets. The camera software was buggy too with saturation and contrast problems while benchmark scores were pretty disappointing as well. No surprises there since the software is not final and the Nexus 4 is expected to run on a newer Android 4.2 version.

Of course it is premature to judge the Nexus 4 with a prototype review and the final product would obviously be better. Now if only the final product comes with a better camera and larger storage capacity of 16GB or 32GB.
