DiGi offers DG Smart Plan 48 with monthly 1GB data

Digi has revised its DG Smart Plan offering which now consists of DG Smart Plan 48, 68 and 88. This replaces DG Smart Plan lite which offered a pathetic 300MB data at RM33/month. With the new DG Smart Plan 48, you’ll get a decent 1GB data at only RM48/month, which is whole lot more for just RM15 extra.

Some their devices are also offered on Smart Plan 48 which includes Samsung Galaxy S II that’s offered at RM1,699 for 12 months contract or RM1,549 for 24 months contract with Smart Plan 48. This is a good move to offer phones with lower commitment contracts, which Maxis has started recently with Maxis Value First bundling.

The ever popular Smart Plan 68 remains unchanged and finally the Smart Plan 88 has been revealed on their site which now offers additional 50 minutes of call and 50 SMS within DiGi network every month. Call rates are the same for all 3 plans at 15sen/min for calls and 10 sen/SMS to all network. If your month bills reach a certain amount, there’s tiered discounts on your monthly commitments too. BIS services are an extra option at RM10/month while BES is at RM20/month. As usual, there’s a RM5/month rebate if you opt for auto-billing.

All 3 DG Smart Plans offer unlimited internet access where you won’t get charged extra for exceeding your usage but your speeds will be throttled. Here’s the interesting part, while DG Smart Plan 68 and 88 are throttled to 128kbps after exceeding, the lowest DG Smart Plan 48 will be throttled to a pityful 5kbps!

No doubt the Smart Plan 48 is a much more reasonable plan for low usage users with a decent amount of data. However we are still unconvinced with DiGi’s issues with their mobile data coverage and performance. When DiGi launched their 3G service, they promised consistency which offered an average of 700kbps at all times. Today we can’t say the same anymore and they seriously need to buck up and fix their network.
