Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Malaysia launch very close

Here’s probably one of the first pictures of the Malaysian edition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 posted on a website, and if our sources are as reliable as we think they are, you can expect Samsung’s direct competitor to the iPad 2 to be launched within these couple of weeks — almost certainly before Ramadhan starts on July 30.

We have no confirmed pricing details yet but people in the know are telling us that it will “very competitive”, as in close to the pricing of the iPad 2 and attractive when compared to the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. A couple of weeks back, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was launched in Indonesia with an equivalent retail price of RM2,110. We doubt that the local RRP of the Tab 10.1 will be similar but it’s still possible.

We know a lot of people are holding out on their tablet purchase to see what this Honeycomb tablet from Samsung has to offer. Based on our first impressions of the the device, we can say that quality is top notch and we like the sleek design but because the unit we played with was loaded with a pre-release (read unfinished) OS, we can’t say much about the user interface, but the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has potential.

Another interesting point to note is that the local Galaxy Tab 10.1 could come with the keyboard case you see here but this is yet to be confirmed.

One more picture after the jump.
