The price of Android devices have been dropping like flies. Just a year ago some of the top-line Androids like the HTC Desire and original Galaxy S were asking for RM2,500 thereabouts for the privilege of owning one. A year later, the latest dual-core Androids can be had for a lot less.
The LG Optimus 2X for example, can be yours for a reasonable RM1,899 while simillarly spec-ed HTC Sensation retails for RM2,299 and the popular Samsung is asking for RM2,099 for the Galaxy S II.
Now, we can welcome another affordable (relatively speaking of course) dual-core Android in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Z. Just released in Sweden, the Galaxy Z sports a 4.2-inch Super Clear LCD display (in comparison the Galaxy S II sports a slightly larger 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen). The Z comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor said to be of the Tegra 2 variety and 8GB of on-board storage with obligatory microSD support.
In addition to that, there’s a 5MP rear camera with 720p HD recording and a forward-facing camera as well. Asking prize for this value-oriented dual-core Android? Around RM1,900.
We’re not sure when the Galaxy Z will hit Malaysia — if at all — but Samsung Malaysia has always given Malaysian consumers great variety when it comes to its Galaxy line of phones, so we’re hoping it will consider bringing in the Galaxy Z to mix things up a little.
