Samsung Galaxy Tab from RM668 on Celcom

When the iPhone 4 was launched by Celcom, they have also introduced a new microsite dedicated for smartphones, which includes Android, Blackberry, iPhone and Windows Phone 7.

Surprisingly we also noticed from the site that Samsung Galaxy Tab is now offered at a much reduced price from only RM668 with 18 months contract of Celcom Exec 250. For those who wish to get something lower, the Galaxy Tab goes for RM1188 with Celcom Exec 50 + mBasic 38 which comes with 1GB of data at only RM88/month commitment. You can check this out over at Celcom’s new smartphone site.

In fact with the coming of the iPad 2 and other newer Android devices such as the HTC Flyer, the RRP for the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been reduced to RM1599. That’s a massive RM1100 drop from its original RM2699 price tag during launch.

DiGi too has reflected this new price change and it is now offered at RM1199 for 12 months and RM949 for 24 months contract on DiGi Smart Plan. You can check out DiGi’s offer here.

Maxis who was the first to bundle the Galaxy Tab in Malaysia doesn’t seem to offer any contract bundle anymore. The device is still visible under its Android tablet page but the contract plans are nowhere to be found.

If you’re looking for a tablet device which can replace your smart phone completely, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is something worth considering as mentioned in our usability review. Admittedly there are newer and better choices of Android tablets coming but with this new price, the Galaxy Tab can an affordable device upgrade but only if you can live with carrying this 7 incher with a Bluetooth headset while you’re on the move.
