Sony Ericsson Xperia Play spotted with PS and Xperia Logo

Here’s another juicy update on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play/PlayStation Phone which is a portable gaming device running on Android.

Earlier on, Sony’s gaming chief commented that there will be a clear differentiator between a gaming phone and an actual PSP which makes us believe that the upcoming portable gaming device may probably not carry any PlayStation branding. However with the latest photos from Engadget, it is surprising to see that it carries both PlayStation and Xperia logos on the same device.

We wonder how’s the gameplay compared to an actual PSP and whether it is just a lighter version that provides some form of gaming on top of the Android platform. From the rest of the pics, it is shown running on the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread which we highly anticipate in a Sony Ericsson device. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hopefully they will make some official announcement at CES. Check out more pics after the jump.
