Android Tablets are invading like a plague lately. First you got the Dell Streak that’s slightly bigger than a HD phone. Then you have the Samsung Galaxy Tab, half the size of an iPad. Now though, there’s something massive coming from Toshiba at 10.1″ big.
It is Toshiba’s rumoured SmartPad or better known as as the Folio 100 which was revealed further by Notebook Italia. It is powered by a new Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with 16GB storage. For connectivity, it has WiFI 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G, standard USB, USB mini audio jack and HDMI output. For added storage, there’s even a SD card reader that supports up to 32GB. For your multimedia needs, it comes with stereo speakers, a mic and a 1.3MP Web cam. On the OS version, we’re glad that it runs on Android 2.2 Froyo.
Although the screen is bigger than the iPad, the Folio 100’s 10.1″ screen supports a lower 1024×600 vs the iPad’s 1024×768 pixels. The bigger dimensions makes the Folio heavier at 760g which is 30g more than the iPad 3G’s 730g. Strangely, the battery for a tablet this big is a mere 1020mAh. Most Android phones today are powered with batteries of 1300mAh or more, so we are wondering how does the Folio cope up with such puny battery. At this point, all these are speculative specs from Notebook Italia with no pricing or launch details available.
So there you have it, Android Tablets or iPad killers at all sort of sizes to tickle your fancy.
