Facebook Zero on DiGi, Free if you got the right settings

As announced earlier, Facebook Zero offers free access on selected Telcos and DiGi is the first to offer such feature in Malaysia. Simple enough, accessing via 0.facebook.com offers free access on your mobile phone.

However the truth is that it may not be necessary free to some users. There are some users who complained that they got charged for accessing Facebook Zero. DiGi finally explained that Facebook Zero is free only if you got the right APN in use.

They have revised their Facebook Zero promo page with a warning that Facebook Zero is free if you are using digiwap as APN. Here’s the thing we dislike, how many users out there are aware of what APN they are using? Plus most newer smartphones may not have a dedicated WAP browser but instead rely on diginet for web browsing.

So DiGi users beware! If you want free access, make sure your phone’s browser runs on digiwap, else you’ll be hitting the max RM5 per day data charge for prepaid.
