The 2nd generation Moto X for 2014 is heading for Malaysia. Carrying the model number XT1092, the device has already passed our local SIRIM certification and like other Moto products, it will be distributed under Brightstar.
In terms of specs, the Moto X is updated with a larger 5.2″ Full HD display and it gets a beefier 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor that’s mated to 2GB of RAM. There’s a choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage, which unfortunately isn’t expandable.
For taking pictures, it gets a 13MP camera that does 4K videos and it is assisted by a unique ring flash illumination. The front meanwhile settles for a 2MP front camera and this time around it also has front facing stereo speaker like the 2nd gen Moto G.
While the Moto X comes with heaps of customisation features in the US, we are limited to more mainstream colours like Black and White. It is also good to know that it supports 4G LTE and it uses nano-SIM like most newer compact devices. The downside we noticed is the battery, which is quite low for its specs at 2,300mAh. Being a Moto device with pure Android experience, you can be assured of quicker software updates compared to other mainstream smart phone players.
No ideas on its pricing at the moment and as reference, the previous generation Moto X was priced in Malaysia at RM1,499 for the 16GB version.
