More shiny new Apple products are still being rolled out after introducing the new iPad mini with an OLED display yesterday.

Apple has refreshed its 24-inch iMac for 2026, powered by the latest M6 chip. This is the first major refresh for Apple’s all-in-one desktop since the M4-powered iMac was introduced in October 2024.

The new iMac offers more processing power with up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, along with faster storage and upgraded connectivity. It also retains the familiar slim all-in-one design with a 24-inch Retina display.

iMac 2026 M6 Malaysia Pricing and Availability

The new iMac M6 is available in two chip configurations, both starting with 16GB of unified memory and 256GB SSD storage.

Here are the official starting prices in Malaysia:

  • iMac M6 (10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) – RM6,499
  • iMac M6 (12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) – RM7,499

For students or educators, Apple’s Education Pricing for the new iMac starts from RM6,299.

Pre-orders for the new iMac M6 begin in Malaysia on 29 October 2026 at 1:10am MYT, while general availability starts on 6 November 2026.

For comparison, the previous iMac M4 2024 was originally launched in Malaysia with a starting price of RM5,799 for the 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU version, while the higher-spec 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU model started from RM6,699.

However, Apple recently revised its Malaysian pricing in June 2026, increasing the entry-level M4 iMac to RM6,499. This means the new iMac M6 maintained the revised starting pricing from June 2026.

For users who require more memory or storage, Apple offers several build-to-order upgrades.

For unified memory, upgrading from 16GB to 24GB costs an additional RM900. Meanwhile, upgrading to 32GB costs RM1,800, although this option is only available for the higher-spec M6 model with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU.

For SSD storage, upgrading from the base 256GB to 512GB costs an additional RM900, while 1TB costs RM2,250. If you need 2TB of storage, it costs an additional RM4,500, but this option is exclusive to the higher-spec M6 configuration.

There’s also an option to add a 2.5Gb Ethernet port for an additional RM100, while adding a nano-textured glass costs an extra RM900.

Both iMac configurations come bundled with a colour-matched Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard. However, the higher-spec 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU version gets a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID as standard.

With the iMac 2026 options maxed out with higher-spec M6 chip (12-core CPU, 12-core GPU), 32GB RAM, 2TB storage and nano-textured glass, you’re looking at a total cost of RM14,699.

This is inclusive of the default Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse in matching colour.

What’s new with iMac 2026?

The single biggest upgrade for the 2026 iMac is the new Apple M6 chip, replacing the M4 found in the previous generation.

The base model now features a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, compared to the previous entry-level M4 model’s 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU. Meanwhile, the higher-spec configuration gets a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, up from 10 cores each on the previous generation.

Built on Apple’s 2nm process technology, the M6 offers an updated CPU and GPU architecture with Neural Accelerators to accelerate AI workloads. It also comes with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.

According to Apple, the new iMac delivers up to 1.5 times faster productivity performance and up to twice the graphics performance compared to the M4 model. For AI workloads, Apple claims up to five times faster on-device AI performance.

Besides the new chip, the iMac M6 also gets faster SSD storage, with Apple claiming up to twice the read and write performance compared to the previous generation.

Connectivity has been upgraded to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 thanks to the new Apple N1 chip.

In terms of ports, the new iMac offers up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, although this is only available on the higher-spec 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU version. It also supports up to two external 6K displays.

The display itself remains unchanged. You still get a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide colour support and over one billion colours. Apple also offers an optional nano-texture glass finish on the higher-spec model to reduce glare and reflections.

For video calls, the iMac retains its 12MP Center Stage camera, which automatically keeps users in frame. There’s also Desk View, which allows users to show a top-down view of their desk during video calls.

The built-in audio setup remains unchanged with a six-speaker sound system comprising two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and two tweeters. It supports Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, while a studio-quality three-microphone array handles voice calls and recordings.

The new iMac 2026 also retains its colourful design, available in seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

Out of the box, the new iMac runs on macOS 27 Golden Gate, which introduces further refinements to Apple’s Liquid Glass interface and other system features.
