Jaguar has unveiled the production version of the Jaguar Type 01, an all-electric 4-door grand tourer that marks the start of the brand’s new design direction as well as a new era for its EV journey. Built in the UK, the Type 01 is also the first model based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA).

When the EV was first revealed as the Type 00 concept car in Miami back in 2024 alongside a revamped brand image for Jaguar, it drew a wide spectrum of reactions. While the production version still looks quite radical, it is far more grounded in reality than the concept car.

Jaguar Type 01 Pricing

When it comes to pricing, the Jaguar Type 01 will start from GBP130,000 (~RM704,449).

At the moment, it is not known whether the EV is coming to Malaysia. With Malaysia not listed in the region selector on Jaguar’s official website and Jaguar Malaysia’s website seemingly stuck in 2024, the probability appears to be low for now.

That being said, the Type 01 will only be available for order in early 2027, with deliveries expected to begin sometime in the second half of the year. So, there is still plenty of time for Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia to consider the Type 01 for our market.

Jaguar Type 01 Quick Specs

Powering the new Jaguar Type 01 is an all-wheel-drive tri-motor setup—one 260kW motor up front and two 310kW motors at the rear—producing up to 1,016hp (758kW) and 1,365Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds.

Energy for the new EV is stored within a 118kWh battery pack running on an 850-volt system that enables the Type 01 to deliver a WLTP range of up to 720km. Equipped with 350kW DC fast charging support, it takes around 22 minutes to charge the EV from 10% to 80% while the EV also support 22kW AC charging as standard.

Physically, the Jaguar Type 01 measures 5,235mm in length and 1,403mm in height, giving it an eye-catching presence that is further highlighted by standard 23-inch wheels. Aside from being the most aerodynamic Jaguar to date with a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd, it also features active aero elements, frameless doors, a sweeping hood, and a glassless rear tailgate.

There is 450L of boot space, which is expandable to 1,000L with the 50:50 split rear seats folded.

Inside, the 4-seater cabin is split by a central spine and houses a 24-inch OLED display alongside a secondary 7-inch touch control panel. The front seats feature 12-way power adjustment and a massage function, while all four seats are heated and cooled.

Cabin technology centres around a single-glass 24-inch OLED driver display running the new Jaguar Infotainment system with conversational voice assistant support. Essential controls are routed through a separate 7-inch central screen, while rear passengers get a dedicated 7-inch portrait screen integrated into the rear spine.

The Type 01 does not come with a traditional rear-view mirror. Instead, it uses a digital ClearSight Rear View Display integrated directly into the full-width Panoramic Soundbar, which forms part of the EV’s 38-speaker Meridian sound system.

Together with a 50:50 weight distribution, Jaguar has included plenty of hardware to ensure the Type 01 delivers uncompromised comfort and driving dynamics. This includes Dynamic Air Suspension with switchable volume air springs and twin-valve active dampers, specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres, and an All-Wheel Steering system capable of turning the rear wheels by up to 6 degrees.

While Jaguar did not provide exhaustive details regarding all safety features, the company noted that the EV’s NVIDIA-powered Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) rely on 10 external cameras, 5 radar units, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
