TNG eWallet has received recognition from Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Sarawak (JTK Sarawak) as an alternative salary payment method, completing its coverage across all labour authorities in Malaysia.

With the latest recognition, employers in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak can use TNG eWallet as an alternative channel to pay wages. The option is particularly aimed at workers who are unbanked or face barriers to opening and using conventional bank accounts.

According to TNG Digital, more than half a million users nationwide are already receiving their wages through TNG eWallet, with over RM5.7 billion in wages disbursed in 2026 so far.

TNG eWallet wage payments first recognised in 2024

TNG Digital first received recognition from Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Semenanjung Malaysia (JTKSM) in 2024 as an alternative wage payment method for unbanked workers, including blue-collar migrant workers through a DuitNow account.

This was followed by recognition from Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Sabah (JTK Sabah) in December 2025. With JTK Sarawak now recognising TNG eWallet, the company says its alternative wage payment method now has nationwide coverage.

TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni said, “As of today, more than half a million users nationwide already use TNG eWallet to receive their wages, recording more than RM5.7 billion in wages disbursed in 2026.”

He added, “JTK Sarawak’s recognition marks an important milestone in expanding this access nationwide. It gives confidence to any employer in Malaysia that this is a safe, government recognised digital wage disbursement, while giving workers an established and practical way to receive and manage their earnings.”

How do employers pay salaries into TNG eWallet?

Each verified TNG eWallet user is assigned with a DuitNow account number which allows employers to transfer wages directly from any Malaysian bank into the worker’s TNG eWallet account.

This provides an alternative way for employers to pay workers who may not have access to conventional banking services. Once the salary is credited, workers can access the funds directly through their TNG eWallet.

Besides receiving wages, workers can use the funds in their TNG eWallet for everyday payments, transfers and remittances. They can also apply for a TNG eWallet Visa prepaid card which allows them to withdraw cash from ATMs and make payments where Visa is accepted.
