This post is brought to you by Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 expands the role of the smartwatch beyond fitness, offering users new tools to monitor key aspects of their health. With features designed to track both heart function and antioxidant levels, the Galaxy Watch8 helps users better understand the connection between daily habits and long-term wellness.

Complete Heart Health Monitoring

The Galaxy Watch8 introduces Vascular Load monitoring, a feature that measures stress on the vascular system while users sleep. Since blood vessels carry oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, understanding how they respond during rest can provide valuable insights into overall cardiovascular health.

Ideally, vascular stress decreases during sleep, but irregular fluctuations may indicate that lifestyle adjustments are needed.

The watch uses photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveforms to analyse blood flow, vessel stiffness and changes in vascular stress, offering data that reflects the impact of sleep, diet, and stress on the body. Alongside this, the Galaxy Watch8 also supports heart health tracking with Blood Pressure monitoring, ECG readings, and HR Alert/Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN), certified by the Medical Device Authority (MDA) Malaysia.

To use this feature, make sure your watch is connected to a phone with the Samsung Health app, and start setting a baseline by tracking three nights of sleep.

Antioxidant Index: World’s First for a Smartwatch

Healthy ageing is closely tied to antioxidants, which help neutralise free radicals that damage cells. Lifestyle factors such as poor diet, stress, smoking, or UV exposure can accelerate this process.

The Galaxy Watch8 debuts the Antioxidant Index, the first smartwatch feature of its kind. By scanning the skin for carotenoid levels using its BioActive Sensor, the watch provides a quick score in just five seconds.

This score reflects fruit and vegetable intake, serving as a practical reminder to improve diet choices. Even small changes, such as drinking a glass of carrot juice, can be tracked through improved readings, giving users immediate motivation to adopt healthier habits.

Everyday Wellness at a Glance

Together, the heart health tools and Antioxidant Index make the Galaxy Watch8 a versatile health companion. From sleep quality to nutrition, the smartwatch connects daily lifestyle patterns with long-term wellness, giving users data they can act on.

While these features are not intended for diagnosis or treatment, they offer meaningful guidance for those who want to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
