Maxis is going beyond home fibre connectivity as it is set to offer home solar solutions very soon. The green telco has started its registration of interest which provides a glimpse of its upcoming Maxis Home Solar offering.

According to its Home Solar section, Maxis wants to help home owners to reap the benefits of clean renewable energy by eliminating high costs of entry and allowing them enjoy savings on electricity bill by up to 25% from Day 1. In addition, Maxis claims to offer 30-year warranty backed by the support of experts to help you get the most out of your energy requirements.

Maxis’ official FAQ states that Home Solar is a subscription based service and it will be made available on a limited basis, exclusive to Maxis subscribers in the Klang Valley. The recommended system size will be determined after their team assess your current electricity usage and future electricity consumption needs. If you’re planning to get an EV, you can factor that in for your future power requirements.

From the example provided, small homes with a monthly TNB bill of RM500 can enjoy an estimated savings of RM120 per month with a 7.2kWp system. Meanwhile, large homes with monthly bill of RM1,300 can enjoy estimated savings of RM296 per month with a 16.2kWp system.

When it comes to pricing, Maxis Home Solar requires an upfront cost of RM1,000, however, a credit check will be required to determine if an advance payment is required. Customers can choose to pay between two billing methods: A flat monthly fee or pay based on the amount of energy generated from solar.

It is stated that Maxis Home Solar utilises Tier 1 Certified Solar Panels and Inverters, and the installations are handled by Registered PV Service Providers (RPVSP) accredited by SEDA. Under the solar package, users will get a custom solar system tailored specifically for your home, ongoing maintenance and warranty, 24/7 system monitoring for optimal performance and insurance coverage against any damage to your solar system.

The FAQ also hints a 10-year contract tenure as it is required to align with the NEM contract tenure with TNB and no changes between subscription packages will be allowed after the contract is accepted. When it comes to maintenance, Maxis will monitor your solar panel’s performance and provide maintenance visits at no extra cost to ensure that they remain in optimal condition.

If you’re interested, you can register your interest and their solar team will contact you within two days to guide you through the registration process. It is stated that eligible customers will receive assistance throughout the entire process including registration for Net Energy Metering (NEM) program.
