Tesla Malaysia officially turned one last Saturday (22nd July 2024), marking one year since its official local debut with the Model Y. To mark the occasion, Tesla Malaysia has posted a recap of the year on Instagram which highlights its EV deliveries as well as the expansion of its charging and service network.
In the past year, Tesla has delivered a total of 4,998 EVs which consist of 3,002 Model 3 and 1,996 Model Y. Despite launching the Tesla Model Y earlier, the Model 3 was the first model to be delivered to customers on 29th November 2023. Local deliveries for the Model Y only started in March this year.

According to JPJ’s latest data, a total of 4,778 Tesla vehicles were registered between 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024. Take note that this figure includes grey imported units. For the first six months of 2024, Tesla is currently the #2 EV brand with 3,079 units registered, behind BYD which registered 4,368 units in the same period.
Tesla Charging Network in Malaysia
When it comes to EV charging, Tesla Malaysia has deployed a total of 11 Supercharging locations and 11 Destination Charging Stations. The Supercharging stations which offer DC fast charging up to 250kW are currently located in the Klang Valley, Melaka, Johor, Penang and Pahang.
Tesla continues to expand its Supercharging network to more locations which includes Gurney Plaza in Penang and The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Tesla Superchargers are currently priced at RM1.25 per kWh while its Destination chargers (AC charge points) are still free until further notice.
Although Tesla has already fulfilled MITI’s requirement to deploy 50 DC chargers, it has yet to open its charging network to non-Tesla EVs. It is also worth pointing out that Malaysia is the first country in Southeast Asia to deploy Tesla’s latest V4 Supercharger.
When it comes to service, Tesla Malaysia currently has just one service centre located at Tesla Cyberjaya. It has appointed two authorised Body & Paint shops namely SR EV Automotive and Hap Seng Body and Paint. While it doesn’t have an extensive service network like traditional carmakers, Tesla also has a mobile service which serves the whole of Malaysia.
Tesla currently has two permanent showrooms located at Cyberjaya and Pavilion Damansara Heights. Their vehicles are also on display and available for test drives at Sunway Big Box in Johor and Gurney Plaza in Penang.
In case you missed it, Tesla Malaysia is running several promotions where buyers can enjoy 0% interest for a brand-new Tesla Model 3. They are also offering the Model Y with an interest rate as low as 0.78% along with a free colour upgrade or Supercharging credit promo if you order the Tesla Model Y Performance.
