While Malaysia Airports aims to complete its KLIA aerotrain replacement project by Jan 2025, Batik Air (formerly known as Malindo Air) has launched a private shuttle service using the Kia EV9. The airline in collaboration with Kia aims to offer a seamless and eco-friendly transfer between the main terminal and satellite building at KLIA Terminal 1.

Batik Air uses Kia EV9 and diesel-powered Carnival for VIP Transfer Service

According to The Star, the VIP Transfer Service at KLIA started on Monday, 24th June 2024 and is offered exclusively for its Business Class and Flexi passengers.

The Kia EV9 is a fully electric SUV that comes in either a 6-seater or 7-seater configuration. Priced from RM369,668, the Kia EV9 GT-Line has twin motors pushing 380hp and 700Nm of torque, capable of doing 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds. The 2.6-tonne electric SUV gets a 99.8.kWh battery with a WLTP-rated range of 505km on a single charge.

Besides the EV9, the Batik Air private shuttle service also utilises Kia’s diesel-powered Carnival MPVs.

Malaysia Airlines uses BMW i7 for private terminal transfer at KLIA

Back in January 2024, Malaysia Airlines launched its private terminal transfer service that utilises a fleet of all-electric BMW i7 to shuttle passengers between the main terminal and satellite buildings at KLIA.

The private transfer service was made possible with BMW via Ingress Auto Sdn Bhd and has been offered to Business Class and Business Suite ticket holders, as well as Enrich Platinum members since 1st February 2024.

The Malaysia Airlines’ private transfer service operates 24 hours a day and departing passengers can hop on the BMW i7 from the dedicated premium transfer lounge at Gate G1 at the main terminal building. Meanwhile, arriving passengers will be picked up from Gate C1 at the satellite terminal building.
