Before 2023 comes to an end, Gentari continues to turn on more DC fast chargers along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) to address concerns of range anxiety. The latest installation is at Petronas Sg Perak R&R Northbound which is located just before the Sultan Azlan Shah Bridge. This is yet another EV charging stop if you are driving up north and need a quick top-up between Ipoh and Caltex Bukit Gantang R&R.
The Petronas Sungai Perak Northbound location has a 180kW DC fast charger with two CCS2 nozzles. Similar to most Gentari EV charging locations, the charger is priced at RM1.50 per kWh. The charger can be activated via Setel, ChargEV or the JomCharge app.
The Sungai Perak Northbound R&R is quite a compact rest area and the Petronas station is located to your left after the sharp turn when you exit the highway. Before this, the Petronas station used to have a 22kW AC charge point by ChargEV.
As announced several months ago, Gentari is gradually upgrading EV chargers at Petronas stations along the PLUS highway to faster DC chargers. Some of the recent DC charger installations include Petronas NKVE (Northbound), Petronas Solaris Seri Kembangan (Southbound), Behrang Lay-by (Northbound), Petronas Ulu Bernam (Southbound) and Petronas Sungai Buloh Lay-by (Southbound).
