Earlier this year, Acer revamped their naming scheme for their laptops and the old Acer Swift 3 became the Swift Go 14 instead. We took it for a spin and in our review found it to be a great, no-nonsense laptop that would be a good choice for many users. The Taiwanese giant has since announced a new refresh of the Swift Go 14, with the next generation Swift Go 14 now featuring Intel’s latest Meteor Lake mobile processors.
The most notable upgrade here is that the new Swift Go 14 will come with the new Intel Core Ultra processors that just only debuted at Intel’s AI Everywhere event. Acer says that the Swift Go 14 will come with up to the new Intel Core 7 155H processors along with Intel Evo platform certification. However, they did not include any memory or storage configurations for it just yet. Nevertheless, thanks to the Intel Core Ultra’s NPU, the Swift Go 14 will come with better AI potential as well as graphics performance with its Intel Arc integrated graphics.
Acer also states that the Swift Go 14 will come with up to a 14-inch OLED display pushing a resolution of 2880 x 1800p. This panel will also be capable of a 90Hz refresh rate, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, and come with DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. It’s worth pointing out though that the older Swift Go 14 from January this year debuted globally with an OLED display too, but eventually made its way to Malaysia with a more typical IPS display instead. Indeed, Acer themselves state that this time around, the new Swift Go 14 will also come with a lower resolution 14-inch WUXGA (2910 x 1200p) OLED display, though it remains to be seen which model will come to Malaysia.
Other features of note include a QHD webcam with a slew of Acer’s own software tools using AI to get better video conferencing experience. The battery life is said to be improved too, with Acer rating it for up to 12 and a half hours of use, while the touchpad is now 44% bigger than before and made of recycled ocean-bound plastic. As for I/O, you’ll find two USB-C ports, a HDMi 2.1 port and a MicroSD card slot on top of WiFi 6E and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. The Swift Go 14 weighs in at just 1.32kg and measures 14.9mm thin.
At the moment, Acer says that the Swift Go 14 will be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa later this month, while it’ll go on sale in North America next month with a starting price of USD799.99 (~RM3,733.55); they have not mentioned any local pricing and availability details for now.
