During the launch of Unifi Mobile’s new Uni5G family postpaid plans, TM has also introduced its new unlimited roaming passes which also provides 5G access in selected countries. The multi-country passes start from RM9 per day or RM39 per week. The passes are available for subscribers on Uni5G Postpaid 39, 69, 99, Postpaid Family 129, 159, 189 and supplementary plans.
Uni5G Roam Passes with “unlimited” data
Here’s the list of daily Uni5G roam passes which provide “unlimited” data roaming:
- Uni5G Roam Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia Unlimited – RM9 per day
- Uni5G Roam ASEAN Unlimited – RM19 per day
- Uni5G Global Unlimited – RM39 per day
If you’re travelling overseas for several days, Unifi Mobile offers weekly Uni5G roam passes and they are priced as follows:
- Uni5G Roam ASEAN Unlimited 7-day – RM39 for 7 days
- Uni5G Roam Global Unlimited 7-day – RM69 for 7 days
These passes can be activated via the Unifi Mobile app.
Uni5G Roam Fair Usage Policy and throttled speed
As you would expect, TM has also imposed Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limits for these unlimited data roam passes. According to the FAQ, the data roaming passes come with an FUP quota of 500MB of high-speed data daily. Once you’ve reached your limit, your unlimited data speed will be throttled down to 128kbps.
If you’re subscribed to a weekly roaming pass, your FUP quota will be refreshed every 24 hours from the time of initial activation time. If you need to store your internet speed to high-speed immediately, you can purchase a new 1-day data roaming pass.
It is worth pointing out that other established telcos typically offer a multi-country data roam pass (about RM95 – RM99 for 30 days) with higher FUP and a higher throttled speed. For example, Maxis, Celcom and Digi offer a monthly “unlimited” data roaming pass that comes with a higher FUP of 2GB per day. Once you’ve hit your daily FUP limit, your speeds will be throttled to 1Mbps which is decent enough for web browsing, navigation, social media updates and standard-definition video streaming.
Uni5G list of supported countries and telcos
In terms of supported countries and telcos, Uni5G’s weekly Roam ASEAN pass covers Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. For the weekly global pass, it covers 50 countries including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Macau, United States and United Kingdom.
If the country is not listed, Unifi Mobile also has Uni5G Roam passes that offer 50MB data for RM39/day.
