Not only do we have leaks of the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE, but we also have early leaks of next year’s Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Famous leaker Onleaks and the website Smartprix have just released early renders of 2024’s flagship phone for Samsung – and the details shared are worth a mention here.
What can we expect?
Firstly, the overall design of the phone does not depart too much from this year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – the flat top and bottom design is retained for the 2024 flagship. Even on the back, the number of camera modules is the same, with a standard, wide-angle, zoom and periscope sensor.
Thinner bezels and wider screen?
One aspect of the design that is different this time around is the screen. While the size is the same at 6.8 inches, the aspect ratio of the screen has been tweaked – you can expect a wider phone based on the animation made by OnLeaks below. The screen will be a QHD+ display with a reported max brightness of 2,200 nits, compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 1,750 nits.
Samsung apparently has managed to thin the bezel for the screen when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. At the same time, they also managed to reduce the curve on the screen to almost flat – the least curved screen on a Samsung since the introduction of curved screens with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge way back in 2015. This will be good news for owners who need to apply screen protectors on curved screens.
Having a flatter screen will also reduce the number of ‘accidental’ touches by the heel of the palm, reducing triggers to the ‘Edge’ functions.

Shorter Periscope?
The main difference with the camera this time is the 10MP periscope sensor – online reports are sharing that Samsung is going to cut down the optical zoom length from 10x to 5x – mirroring Apple. This writer feels that the downgrade makes the phone too similar to the iPhone, rather than standing out in the pack. Samsung should stay with the 10x periscope sensor as it gives the phone an advantage over its competitors.
The other sensors are also seeing tweaks – a better 200MP sensor will live as the main camera, the 3x camera sees a bump in resolution to 50MP, the aforementioned periscope sensor, and a 12MP selfie camera.
More of the same, mostly
Otherwise, the phone will have similar internals to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It will have more RAM – up to 16GB, up to 1TB of internal storage, a 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging, and the typical IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
One new add-on to the frame is an Ultra-Wideband antenna to the side of the phone. This may be used for Samsung’s implementation of asset tracking with tags – ala Apple’s Airtags.
We can expect the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to be launched with the rest of the S24 lineup, sometime in the beginning of Q1 next year.
