Be U, the fully digital bank proposition by Bank Islam, has launched its new Visa Debit Card-i which is offered in multiple designs. Besides offering a convenient and secure way to make contactless payments at over 100 million Visa merchants worldwide, the new Visa Debit Card-i also offers several new features to cater to consumers evolving needs.
Bank Islam Group Chief Digital Officer Noor Farilla Abdullah said the card embodies efficiency, choice, and control that meets today’s market demands. She added that the new offering is a testament to Bank Islam’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge Shariah-complaint solutions that resonate with the modern lifestyle.
With the new Be U Visa Debit Card-i, cardholders will be able to track their finances with the built-in expense tracker in the Be U by Bank Islam app. This allows customers to be aware of and understand their spending habits, which would help users to plan and achieve their financial goals strategically.
For ease of managing security and card settings, the Be U app also allows customers to freeze and unfreeze their card, change their PIN and make changes to their security and card limits. Customers can also file a dispute for suspicious or unauthorised transactions directly on the app which eliminates the need to make a voice call or submit a dispute form.
Bank Islam says Be U offers a fully branch-less experience where customers are empowered to manage their banking experience on the app without the need to visit a branch. Besides the physical debit card, Be U customers can also make cashless payments and transfers through DuitNow QR and DuitNow. The digital banking app also supports additional features such as Nest which is an automated goal savings feature that encourages customers to save to achieve their short-term goals.
The Be U Visa Debit Card-i has an RM12 issuance fee and the annual fee is RM10. ATM withdrawals are free at Bank Islam ATMs and it costs RM1 per transaction if you withdraw cash locally via the MEPS network. For overseas ATM withdrawal at Visa network ATMs, there’s an RM10 fee per transaction. Other transaction fees including foreign exchange rates will follow Bank Islam’s current rates.
The Be U Visa Debit Card-i card is offered in 5 designs and customers can apply for the card on the Be U app which is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
