Honda Malaysia has announced it has delivered 2,200 units of its new WR-V, just one month after its launch on July 13. This means the company’s smallest SUV is its second best-selling model in July, despite only being sold for just over half the days of the month.
To commemorate the occasion, Honda Malaysia held an official handover ceremony to the first customer to book the WR-V earlier this month. Nurain binti Mohamad received her car at Accord Auto in Ampang together with some Honda accessories, an Ultra Glass Body Coating and official merchandise, collectively worth RM5,000.
According to Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura, the range-topping RS model was the highest seller, accounting for 60% of the total sales to date. “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our customers for their trust in the Honda brand and support for the all-new WR-V, which is a brand-new model in the non-national small SUV segment. Since its launch, the model has been well accepted in the market and achieved remarkable sales performance,” he said.
The WR-V is available in four variants, with prices starting at RM89,900 for the 1.5 S and rising up to RM95,900 for the 1.5 E, RM99,900 for the 1.5 V and RM107,900 for the aforementioned 1.5 RS. All models are powered by a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 89kW (119hp) and 145Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Zero to 100km/h takes 11 seconds, while the top speed is 160km/h.
The car is around the same size as the popular Perodua Ativa and comes standard with Apple CarPlay, the LaneWatch blind spot monitor and four airbags, while LED headlights, paddle shifters, auto air-con and six airbags available becoming available as you move up the ladder. The E variant and above are also offered with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assists, including autonomous emergency braking and Level 2 semi-autonomous driving functionality.
