Besides introducing new 5G postpaid and prepaid plans, Maxis has also announced its new unlimited 5G broadband called Maxis Home WiFi 158. This is a wireless 5G broadband service which is great for those who are residing in areas without fibre coverage.
Maxis Home WiFi 158 is priced at RM158/month and it offers unlimited 5G and 4G data. It is RM20/month more expensive than its current Home WiFi 138 which offers unlimited 4G data. Tied with a 24-month contract, the Home WiFi 158 plan is bundled with a WiFi 6-certified 5G router worth RM1,899.
According to the description, the wireless 5G broadband plan can support faster speeds of up to 300Mbps and the router itself can support up to 30 connected devices.
While the plan is advertised as unlimited, Maxis has stated in its FAQ that it may at its absolute discretion limit the speed of video streaming and regular browsing if the data usage exceeds 500GB/month. It added that excessive and abusive data usage is subject to Fair Usage Policy to ensure a better experience for all users.
Maxis says an advance payment of three months of your mobile commitment plan may be applicable during sign-up, while non-Malaysians are required to pay a RM300 deposit. If you’re an existing Maxis Home WiFi 138 user with a contract, you are able to upgrade to the 5G-enabled Home WiFi 158 plan.
Maxis is also offering device bundles with the wireless 5G broadband plan. They are offering a Samsung 50″ 4K UHD TV for RM83/month on a 36-month Zerolution instalment plan or RM124/month on a shorter 24-month instalment. Alternatively, you can also opt for a Samsung 65″ 4K UHD TV for RM127/month on 36-month duration or RM191/month on a 24-month duration.
