The Neta V made its official debut in Malaysia earlier this month and has immediately attracted the limelight by being the first sub-RM100,000 electric vehicle in our market. With the first batch of deliveries expected to take place in Q3 this year, Neta Malaysia has now invited the public to experience the new model themselves at its showroom in Glenmarie Shah Alam.
While you can casually waltz into the showroom to have a look at the new Neta V, you have to make a booking early on if you are planning to take it out for a spin. The process is simple enough though as you only have to enter your details and choose the appointment date as well as time through this form on Neta Malaysia’s official website.
Priced at RM99,800, the Malaysian variant of the Neta V has also been equipped with a front-mounted 70kW (94hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor that can deliver a maximum torque of 160Nm. With a top speed of 120km/h, Neta claimed that the new EV can travel up to 380km according to the NEDC standard.
Powered by a 38.54 kWh ternary lithium battery that was sourced from CATL, the Neta V comes standard with a CCS2 charging connector. When it comes to charging time, the subcompact crossover takes around 8 hours to be fully charged from 0 to 100% via its built-in 6.6kW AC charger.
When plugged into a 100kW DC fast charger, it takes around 30 minutes to reach 30% to 80% state of charge. Interestingly enough, Neta has also equipped the EV with a 3.3kW vehicle-2-load (V2L) feature that allows owners to use Neta V’s battery to power up external electrical appliances.
Size-wise, the Neta V is longer and taller than a Perodua Myvi given its length of 4,070mm and 1,540mm height but it still has a narrower body at 1,690mm. That being said, the 1,151kg EV still has a larger boot space than Myvi at 335 litres.
Inside, the EV features a minimal interior design that was apparently inspired by Tesla together with a 14.6-inch full HD touchscreen for its infotainment system, a 12-inch horizontally-mounted digital instrument panel, and a six-speaker audio system. Neta V does not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay but owners are still able to project their iPhone or Android phone to the centre screen.
As you may expect, ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution are standard on the Neta V alongside several other safety features such as Electronic Park Brake, Electronic Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, Tyre Pressure Monitor System, automatic headlamp, LED-based daytime running lights, parking sensors, and backup camera with dynamic auxiliary line. Despite its price tag, Neta has opted for just two airbags and passive cruise control for this model though.
