Besides the flagship-class Poco F5 Pro, Poco has also launched its mid-range Poco F5 in Malaysia. Besides being a cheaper alternative to the F5 Pro, the F5 is also the first Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2-powered smartphone to go on sale in Malaysia.
Poco F5 Malaysia Pricing
The Poco F5 comes in two spec options in Malaysia and here’s the official pricing:
- Poco F5 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM1,699
- Poco F5 12GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM1,799
As an early bird promo which starts today (9th May), the Poco F5 8GB RAM variant is going for RM1,399 while the 12GB RAM version is going for RM1,499. The early bird pricing undercuts most mid-range contenders which runs on older Snapdragon 6 and 7 series chips. Poco F5 Malaysia Specs and Features
The Poco F5 features a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display which supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. It has a peak brightness of 1000nits and 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Similar to the F5 Pro, it also gets Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 and 1920Hz PWM dimming for better eye comfort.
Under the hood, the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip is mated with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
In the camera department, the Poco F5 has a similar triple-camera setup as the F5 Pro with a 64MP f/1.79 main camera with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide angle camera and a 2MP macro lens. However, it can only record videos up to 4K (8K for F5 Pro). For selfies, it gets a 16MP front camera that sits in a tiny punch-hole on the display.
In terms of connectivity, it supports 5G, 802.11ax WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. You also get dual speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack. IR blaster and NFC. Similar to the Pro model, it also comes with IP53-rated splash resistance. For instant unlocking, it gets a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Poco F5 gets a 5,000mAh battery which supports 67W wired turbocharging via USB-C. According to Poco, the F5 can get a full charge in just 46 minutes. The Poco F5 series runs on MIUI 14 for Poco that’s based on Android 13.
