Microsoft new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets will be hitting our shores pretty soon. The Surface 2 that runs on Windows RT 8.1 will be launched on the 14th of March. There’s no mention yet on the full fledge Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 Pro but it is likely to be released shortly after that. The Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 accessory keyboards will be made available as well.
In terms of specs, the Microsoft Surface 2 comes with a 10.6″ Full HD display and runs on a Quad-Core Tegra 4 processor with 2GB of RAM and a choice of either 32GB/64GB of storage. It is lighter and thinner than the original Microsoft Surface and boast a much improved battery life with up to 10 hours of video playback.
The Surface Pro 2 is the main workhorse running on a 4th gen Intel Core i5 processor with a choice of either 4GB RAM with 64GB/128GB storage or 8GB RAM with 256GB/512GB of storage. It also gets a Full HD display and running on Windows 8.1 Pro allows it to support a wider variety of Windows apps.
No indicative pricing yet but we’ll soon find out on 14th of March.
