After about a month of delay, Apple is now expected to roll out its iPadOS 16 feature for compatible iPads by the end of this month. According to Bloomberg’s analyst, Mark Gurman, the new iPadOS 6.1 is on track to be released on the week of 24th October 2022.
For iPad users in Malaysia, this could mean that the new iPadOS update could be pushed as early as Tuesday morning on 25th October 2022.
Typically, Apple would push out its latest OS updates for the iPhone and iPad at around the same time. However, iPadOS 16 was purportedly delayed due to some issues with its new Stage Manager feature which provides a better multitasking experience on the iPad with a “windowed” interface. As a result, the initial public release will jump straight to iPadOS 16.1.
Although a wide range of iPad models are getting iPadOS 16 such as all iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd gen and above), iPad (5th gen and above) and the iPad Mini (5th gen and above), not all of them will get the full suite of features. Initially, Stage Manager was only offered to the newer M1-powered iPad models but the Curpertino company appears to be extending the feature to older iPad Pro models that run on Apple A12X and A12Z chips.
In addition, iPadOS 16 also enables full external screen support and you can have four apps running on the iPad and another four on your external monitor. However, the external screen feature is said to be delayed until later this year.
