Honor has launched its latest global smartphone in Malaysia, the Honor 70. This is the entry-level version of a three-phone series that also includes the 70 Pro and 70 Pro+, although only the 70 is being offered here for now. This device replaces the Honor 50, the first Honor device to include Google Mobile Services, enabled after the company’s split with Huawei.

Honor 70 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Honor 70 is available in just a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM1,999. Pre-orders start today, with free gifts that include the Honor Earbuds 2 Lite, a phone case in a matching colour and a 1+1-year extended warranty, altogether worth up to RM597. You may put your orders in through the official website, Honor Stores, Lazada, Shopee, Courts, Harvey Norman, Senheng, senQ and Urban Republic.

Honor 70 specs and features

The Honor 70 is a mid-range smartphone through and through, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor – the same one you’ll find in the Nothing Phone (1). In Malaysia, we’re only getting the base model with the aforementioned 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The highlight is the main camera – the 70 debuts Sony’s new IMX800 1/1.49-inch image sensor with a resolution of 54MP; it’s attached to an f/1.9 lens. You also get a 50MP ultra-wide with a 122-degree field of view, an f/2.2 lens and the ability to shoot macro images at up to 2.5cm from the subject, along with a 2MP depth sensor.

Honor has improved the Multi-Video Recording feature introduced on the Honor 50 by adding a Solo Cut mode, enabling the user to shoot both a wide shot and a zoomed-in crop (which uses AI technology to track a person) at the same time.

At the front sits a 32MP hole-punch selfie camera, sitting within the 6.67-inch OLED curved display. The latter has a Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and HDR10+ support.

All this is juiced by a 4,800mAh battery with support for 66W of fast charging; Honor says the phone can be charged to 60% in 20 minutes. The 70 ships with Android 12 with the Magic UI 6.1 skin.

On the outside, the Honor 70 sports a curved front and back with dual round camera bumps, along with a rather sleek tessellated back pattern on the Crystal Silver model. The phone is available in two other colours – Emerald Green and Midnight Black.
