The Pokemon Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 launched in South Korea sold out in just five minutes

Last week, Samsung announced that they are launching a special Pokemon Edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 just for South Korea. Now, the company has officially launched it, and it is priced at KRW 1,284,000 (about RM4,458)—and it’s already sold out.

Purchasing the new Pokemon edition of the phone won’t just give you the Z Flip 3. It also comes with a Clear Cover With Ring (with an additional Pikachu insert), Pikachu Keychain, Pokemon Palette, Pokemon Book Cover Leather Pouch, Monster Ball 3D Grip Talk, and stickers of five popular Pokemons. It’s a treasure chest for Pokemon fans—and like Raymond said in our previous post about this, we’re a little upset that it’s not available worldwide.

If the phone is purchased through Samsung’s online store, the company is offering a one-year Samsung Care+ plan for free. The website also shows you more details of what the extra accessories look like—like the Monster Ball 3D Grip Talk and its special pouch.

However, I was surprised to find out that the actual Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is—just a regular Z Flip 3. You can choose between Cream, Phantom Black, Lavender, and Green, but they’re not Pokemon-themed in any way. The only way you can make it look Pokemon-themed is by stacking it with all of the accessories it comes with.

So, it might seem like a little bit of a rip-off, but I’d still be down for it if I can get my hands on it. I’d buy almost everything pokemon-themed. And that might be what Samsung is banking on—impressionable millennials.

“We will prepare to provide a variety of experiences to consumers through special collaborations such as the ‘Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokemon Edition’ in the future,” writes Samsung.

Surprisingly, even with the phone just being a regular Z Flip 3, Korean outlet Yonhap News reported that the limited foldable was sold out in just five minutes. And if you’re wondering if the edition will ever be sold in Malaysia, a Samsung spokesperson said that the firm has “yet to launch the special edition in overseas markets”—so don’t hold your breath.
