[ UPDATE ] We can’t find JPJ’s eAduan app that’s supposed to help report traffic violations

[ UPDATE 24/04/2022 12:15] Turns out eAduan isn’t an app but a new subsection in the JPJ Info app. However, it is only available for Android for now.

Road Transport Department (JPJ) Senior Director of Enforcement Datuk Lokman Jamaan announces that the public is now able to report traffic violations through its eAduan @JPJ app. While it’s a great initiative to come out, especially before Hari Raya travels, I can’t seem to find this specific app anywhere.

According to Datuk Lokman Jamaan, the app lets the public upload pictures or videos of traffic offences that have occurred in front of them—as well as the location of the offence and the time it was committed. He said that the complaints “made must be completed with time, place, video and photos” to facilitate their investigation.

I tried looking for its “eAduan @JPJ” app on the iOS App Store. I could only find the eAduan app for MBPJ (Petaling Jaya). The folks at Paul Tan report that you’re only able to download it through Google Play, but I had a hard time finding it there, too. The closest thing I could find to something like an eAduan app for JPJ is this unofficial APK file—but it’s not published by the official JPJ and it was published way back in 2019. It’s definitely not the app JPJ is talking about.

Datuk Lokman Jamaan also stated that in order to register on the app, we’d first need to “get a public ID on the jpj.gov.my website”. We’d also need to activate the global positioning system (GPS) to facilitate location tracking.

So, maybe that’s the missing puzzle piece? Maybe I needed to look at JPJ’s site to find the app? Well, no—it gets even more confusing. The website pointed me to the JPJ info app (iOS, Android).

Through JPJ info, you’re able to eBid for plat numbers, check your traffic summons, check your driving test results, and others. But reporting traffic violations isn’t one of those options.

If JPJ wants to properly implement Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Ops HRA) 2022, I’d urge them to specify where exactly we can find this app that they say we can download and use.

Twitter user @tzyoong informed us that you’re able to find the option for eAduan through the JPJ Info app—not a separate app. However, you’re only able to report traffic violations if you’re on Android. The option isn’t available for iOS users.
