When you think of Unifi, you’ll probably think about fibre broadband connectivity which is crucial for businesses to stay connected. Due to the impact of the pandemic, businesses are encouraged to adopt new technology to fast track their recovery and to stay ahead in the new normal.
During the tabling of Budget 2022, the Malaysian government has increased its Digitalisation grant for Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to RM200 million. While this is a great initiative to push more small businesses to go digital, not everyone is on board due to various factors including the lack of digital skillsets and financial support. Some business owners are reluctant as they are unable to see the benefits of introducing digital solutions in their business.
At the moment, TM’s Unifi Business serves over 375,000 MSMEs throughout Malaysia. To nudge more businesses to go digital, Unifi Business aims to position itself not just as the preferred digital partner but also to play its part to support the government’s push to digitalise MSMEs.
While there are several Technology Service Provider Partners (TSP) under the government’s Digitalisation Grant, Unifi Business wants to do more to empower MSMEs throughout their digital journey. This includes having a handholding programme through its skilled business consultants and providing a variety of resources from finance, technology and ecosystem under its Unifi Business Club. Under the grant, MSMEs can enjoy savings of up to 50% or RM5,000 matching grant per company.
To upskill business owners, Unifi Business has launched several events, workshops and initiatives at community hotspots to raise awareness of digitalisation, digital marketing as well as eCommerce. In addition, TM has a total of 83 SME corners at TMpoint outlets nationwide to give advice and guidance to business owners and they claim to be the only tech company in Malaysia to provide such assistance.
