Following the official reveal of the new MacBook Pro, leaker Dylan (@dylandkt on Twitter) blessed us with some information about the 2022 MacBook Air.
According to Dylan’s sources, the current naming candidate for the laptop is simply just ‘MacBook’, and it will release in the middle of next year. It is also rumoured to have MagSafe, a 1080p webcam, two USB-C ports, a 30W power adapter, and no fans. These features make it quite similar to the new MacBook Pro that was just announced.
Design-wise, the laptop would take many cues from the iMac, having its bezels and keyboard in off-white and coming in colours similar to the new 24″ iMac. It also bears a resemblance to the MacBook Pro while being both thinner and lighter.
Under the hood, the 2022 MacBook Air will be powered by a new M2 processor. There will also be support for multiple external display for at least two displays. There is not much information on the actual screen, but it is likely to use the same Mini-LED technology Apple used this year.
Now we know what the laptop has, but what does it not have? Dylan says that the laptop will not have ProMotion, Face ID, an SD Card slot, a tapered design, or an HDMI port. He also cannot confirm if there will be a notch on the display.
The starting price is expected to be slightly higher than the current MacBook Air that’s running on Apple M1. For reference, the cheapest model you can get now starts at RM4,399.
