COVID-19: 174 deaths and 17,170 new cases today, 3,555 deaths recorded in July so far

Malaysia has recorded 17,170 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,078,646. There are 174 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 8,725. In July so far, there are 3,555 COVID-19 deaths recorded which is an average of 122.6 deaths daily this month.

The Ministry of Health has reported 12,930 new recoveries and a total of 890,742 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.58% while the mortality rate is now 0.81%.

There are currently 179,179 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,043 are in ICU while 531 require respiratory support.

Out of the 17,170 new cases today, 32 are imported while 17,138 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 7,163 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,138 cases, Kedah with 1,212 cases and Johor with 1,054 cases.

The Ministry of Health has reported a total of 36 new clusters today. 18 are workplace-related, followed by 14 community clusters.

Based on the breakdown by stages, over 97% of new COVID-19 cases are categorised as stage 1 and 2 where patients exhibit no or light symptoms. 14,417 out of 17,170 (84%) of new cases today are people with no vaccination history.
