OnePlus has launched their new smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 2, in select regions such as India and Europe. It’s the latest in their midrange-focused Nord range of devices.

OnePlus Nord 2 Specs

The OnePlus Nord 2 features a 6.42-inch, FHD fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Underneath there’s a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI system-on-chip, mated to either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Similarly, there’s also two storage options; the lower RAM model gets less storage at 128GB while the latter has 256GB of storage. And as usual, the Nord 2 comes with OxygenOS.

For a midrange device, it a seemingly decent camera setup. It has a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor on the rear, flanked by an 8MP ultra wide sensor and a 2MP macro lens. On the front of the device meanwhile, you’ll find a single 32MP IMX615 sensor. The rear camera comes with optical image stabilisation, while the selfie camera will have to make do with electronic image stabilization. Interestingly, it’s triple camera setup means it actually has one camera less than the OnePlus Nord from last year, albeit the Nord 2 does have a better sensor on paper.

It’s also a 5G-capable device, just like its predecessor the OnePlus Nord. There’s also NFC, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 capability. Keeping the lights on is a 4,500mAh battery with 65W Warp Charge. These are modest upgrades to the 4,115mAh and 30W fast charge seen on its predecessor. The OnePlus Nord 2 comes in two colourways: Gray Sierra and Blue Haze.

Pricing and availability

The OnePlus Nord 2 is so far not yet available in Malaysia, so no word just yet on local pricing. But we do have some idea on pricing based on prices in other regions, which is as follows.

OnePlus Nord 2, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage — € 399.00 (~RM 1,985.33)

OnePlus Nord 2, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage — € 499.00 (~RM 2,482.91)

We do expect prices to be slightly lower when it officially launches in Malaysia. For comparison, the base model OnePlus Nord launched at RM 1,799 here last year, while the higher tier model was priced at RM 2,399. In Europe meanwhile, the first OnePlus Nord also launched at € 399 and € 499, so we should expect the same price structure if and when the Nord 2 launches here.

In the meantime though, you can check out more about OnePlus’ new smartphone on its product page.
